Dr Eos responds:
Now, obviously, the CDC is not considering Homeopathy because do not despair! All symptoms are treatable and reversible. I find that the present outbreak has the character of a puncture wound… thus, Ledum should work just fine. Ledum-p in 30C is at your local health food store. I would take one pellet once or twice a week for prevention if relatives happen to drop in from Mexico, Central America, South America or the Caribbean. If symptoms of the disease develops, one pellet daily should suffice. And because there is no milligram or weight amount of any of the active ingredient in homeopathic remedies, just the energy of the Ledum-p is available and does not have negative side effects such as microcephaly on a little growing baby inside mom.

This is a holistic medicine response to the CDC Health Advisory sent to physicians September 12th 2014.

For additional conventional medical information, please consult the CDC enterovirus D68 website:

FIRST:  no worries.

There are good homeopathic remedies for treatment.  You may take preventative/prophylactic remedies to prevent or attenuate the virus OR you may treat your symptoms OR you may treat your symptoms of the aftermath of the virus.

PREVENTATIVE:  One time a week take one pellet of:

Aconite-napellus  OR  Occillococcinum

If the viral symptoms come to your neighborhood, take the same remedy one pellet one time a day.

Note:   These Homeopathic Remedies are sold at your friendly Health Food Store usually in the 30C potency that is just fine.  You may also order them online through Homeopathic Pharmacies such as Hahnamann in California or Boiron USA.

Take one pellet of:

Aconite-napellus  OR  Occillococcinum

Wait 20 minutes.  Are you better in any way?

If yes, then take one pellet 3 times a day for 3 days.

If no, then try the other remedy, wait 20 minutes.

Are you better in any way?

If yes, then take one pellet 3 times a day for 3 days.

If no, then try an alternate remedy:  Pulsatilla  OR  Argenticum-nitricum  OR  Calcarea-muriaticum.

Are you better in any way?

If yes, then continue one pellet 3 times a day for 3 days.

If no, call or see your homeopath, holistic physician, or doctor.

If you are worse at any time, call or see your homeopath, holistic physician, or doctor.

If you have had the viral symptoms and are pretty much over it but don’t yet feel up to your usual then try the protocol above for Aconite-napellus or Occillococcinum.

Do you feel better?

If yes, continue the remedy once a week for 6 weeks.

If no, then try the other one or Pulsatilla or Argenticum-nitricum in the same protocol.

Calcarea-muriaticum is the remedy of choice for the paralysis associated with this outbreak.  Please begin this remedy in any size:  1LM, 6C, 12C, 30C, 100C, 200C, or 1M once a week or so until all signs and symptoms of the dis-ease are gone.  If paralysis should develop, besides doing the conventional medical responses, begin the Calc-mur daily or even three times a day for awhile. It won’t hurt and it might help so you might as well try it.

If at any time you get worse or all of the symptoms do not go away within a week, then call and see your homeopath or holistic physician or doctor.

As we said in the Eos Homeopathic Class, there is a character to a community disease.  In the case of Enterovirus D68 it is the character of “Fear.”  The character of those succumbing to the illness is fear for the caretaker – such as fear that the parents may leave or that they have an insurmountable problem.  Break that thought train and you break out of the dis-ease and the patient becomes healthy again.

A note on why Calc-mur works in this dis-ease.  Calcarea is the oyster shell.  It is one of the most basic of Hahnamann’s constitutionals.  Some homeopaths believe that all humans, when in their pure homeopathic state, reduce in onion layers to the Calcarea oyster – strong on the outside and forgiving and loving on the inside.  Muriaticum is chloride such as in table salt.  Some homeopaths believe that Naturm-muraticum, table salt sodium chloride, is a miasm – added to the basic miasms of Hahnamann – and is the basic remedy for industrialized society.  Muriaticum is also very emotional.  If there has been child abuse, there is usually a –muriaticum in the remedy-set for that individual.

A note on why asthmatic children in this dis-ease.  Many have heard of the Indigo and Crystal Children of Kryon fame.  In my practice I have found all these children (and many adults) to have allergies.  They are irritated by the life they have come into.  Thus, they express as asthma or autism spectrum or a behavioral issue of some sort.  In this time of emotional energy flux, these irritated children are becoming paralyzed.  So…  why not try a homeopathic remedy?  The energy can’t hurt because there is nothing of a milligram nature in it, and it just might help.  So why not.?  Placebo?  Who cares?  It it works, might as well use it.

September 12th 2014, multiple mid-western clusters of severe respiratory illness associated with Enterovirus D68 was reported to physicians by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the local newspaper had a story on a dozen cases in New York State.   Here is what I have found and above is the Holistic Medical response.

State health departments noted recent increases in hospitalizations of children with severe respiratory illness. The virus EV-D68 was detected in specimens.  Anyone can get infected with these near-polio enteroviruses and have a mild common cold illness, but infants, children, and teenagers are more likely to become sick and have infection of their heart or brain or even become paralyzed or die.  The virus, according to the CDC, causes primarily respiratory illness like a cold and cough with little-to-no fever that progresses to difficulty breathing and less oxygen getting into the child.  About two-thirds of the children had a previous history of asthma or wheezing. There are no available vaccines or specific conventional treatments for EV-D68, and clinical care is supportive.

Mild symptoms may include fever, runny nose, sneezing, cough, skin rash, mouth blisters, and body & muscle aches.

More rare symptoms may include viral conjunctivitis (red & oozing eyes), hand & foot & mouth disease (itch & rash), and viral meningitis (infection of the covering of the spinal cord and/or brain).

Severe symptoms may include shortness of breath, wheezing, or turning a bluish color from lack of oxygen or paralysis.

The person may develop myocarditis, pericarditis, encephalitis, or paralysis.

Enterovirus infections may play a role in the development of type 1 diabetes in children.

If at any time there is a need for one of these remedies and you do not have it with you or cannot obtain it for awhile, then do the following:   Write the name of the remedy on a piece of paper.  Include after the name a potency such as 200C.  Tape the piece of paper on a small glass dropper bottle or container in which you have placed alcohol, filtered water or blank homeopathic pellets.  Hold the bottle until you feel a tingling of energy.  Use the result and see if it works!   I have found this often helps in a pinch.

Ebola infection is a viral hemorrhagic (bleeding) fever. The symptoms begin abruptly after 2 to 21 days with 9 days being the average onset time. African bats are most likely the natural reservoir. The Center for Disease Control has extensive online information and updates on outbreaks at from which much of this basic ebola information noted here is derived.

Ebola infection is caused by a virus of the family Filoviridae, genus Ebolavirus. There are five identified subspecies of Ebolavirus. Four of the five help cause disease in humans: Ebola virus. Sudan virus, Taï Forest virus and Bundibugyo virus. The fifth, Reston virus, has not been found in humans.

Because the natural reservoir of ebolavirus has not yet been proven, the manner in which the virus first appears in a human at the start of an outbreak is unknown. However, researchers have hypothesized that the first patient becomes infected through contact with an infected animal.

When an infection does occur in humans, there are several ways in which the virus is believed to be transmitted to others. These include: (1) direct contact with the blood or secretions of an infected person and (2) exposure to objects such as needles that have been contaminated with infected secretions.

Symptoms of ebola infection typically include: fever, headache, joint & muscle aches, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, and lack of appetite.

Some patients may experience: a rash, red eyes, hiccups, cough, sore throat, chest pain, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, and bleeding inside & outside of the body.

In the first few days of illness, patients have flu-like symptoms and profound weakness. Around days 4-7 patients may also have vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, low blood pressure, headaches and anemia. Toward the end of the illness, there is confusion and bleeding, both internal and visible. All may progress toward coma, shock and death.

Some who become sick with ebola are able to recover, while others do not. The reasons behind this are not yet fully understood. However, it is known that patients who die usually have not developed a significant immune response to the virus at the time of death.

Diagnosing ebola infection in an individual who was exposed only a few days earlier is difficult, because the symptoms, such as red eyes and a skin rash, are nonspecific to ebolavirus and are seen often with more commonly occurring diseases. However, if a person has the early symptoms of ebola and there is reason to believe that ebola infection should be considered, the person should be isolated and public health professionals notified.

Standard treatment for ebola infection is still limited to supportive therapy. This consists of: (1) balancing fluids and electrolytes, (2) maintaining oxygen status and blood pressure and (3) treating for any complicating infections.

HOMEOPATHIC HELP for People with Symptoms of Ebola Infection

From very old literature I found the following that has worked in the past for similar disease: Ruta, Baptisia, Hyosyamus, Ignatia, Pestis. These are well known homeopathic remedies usually found in a health food store. They are inexpensive and without side effect involvement with conventional medications.

Possible prophylaxis for this particular outbreak may include Ruta-graveolens 30C once a week, or daily if infection is in the area. Prophylaxis for any outbreak of a major fear-inducing threat is Aconite-napallis 30C once a week.

If a person is grossly displaying symptoms of infection, the remedies most commonly used would be the following given one dose every hour, but as the severity of the symptoms decrease, frequency is reduced. If no improvement is seen after 3 doses, consider a new remedy.

Secale cornutum 30c is for thin, slow, painless oozing dark bleeding with offensive odor, cold skin and tingling in the limbs. The individual wants to be uncovered and feels WORSE from motion.

Echinacea 30C is for when there are bad smelling discharges and enlarged lymph nodes.

Phosphorus 30C is for bright red sudden bleeding with anger flare.

Crotalus horridus 30C is to be considered for when there is difficulty swallowing due to spasms and constriction of the throat, dark purplish blood, and edema with purplish, mottled skin.

Bothrops 30C is the remedy to think of when nervous trembling, difficulty articulating speech, sluggishness, swollen puffy face, and black vomiting are present.

Lachesis mutus 30C is when there is delirium with trembling and confusion with bleeding in any area. Often, the person cannot bear tight or constricting clothing or bandages and feels better from heat and is worse on the left side.

Mercurius corrosivus 30C is for copious bleeding, better when lying on the back with the knees bent up, delirium, headache with burning cheeks, photophobia, black swollen lip, and metallic, bitter or salt taste in mouth.

Sicarius (six-eyed crab spider of Africa) 30C seems to fit all but difficult to obtain.

OTHER Possible Help

An extract derived from the seeds of Garcinia kola, a medium-sized tree commonly in central Africa, may inhibit the ebola virus.

Also Genistein, a soy isoflavone, works to inhibit viruses. While primarily found in soy products, especially fermented soy foods, where beneficial microbes cause the biotransformation of the precursor phytocompound genistin into genistein, it is also found in fava beans, kudzu, coffee and red clover, and many other medicinal plants.

Essential oils blends that might help are Theives, Gathering, 3 Wise Men, Exodus II, R.C., Melrose, Pan-Away, Aroma-Siez, and Di-Tone.
